When replacement makes sense

  • The system is older and repairs are becoming frequent or major (compressor, coil)
  • It uses an older refrigerant that is being phased out and is getting harder to service
  • Rooms stay warm or humid even though the AC runs constantly
  • Your power bills keep rising without a change in how you use the AC

What you get with a new system

  • Right-sized equipment. We look at your home's size, insulation, windows and ductwork instead of guessing from the old unit's size.
  • Current efficiency standards. New systems meet today's federal SEER2 efficiency rules for the Southeast, which can mean potential savings on cooling costs compared with an older system.
  • Newer refrigerants. New systems use the lower-impact refrigerants required under current EPA rules.
  • Permit and inspection handled with your local building department.
  • Clean installation. Old equipment is removed and disposed of properly.

Our replacement process

  1. Home assessment. A technician checks your current system, ductwork, electrical and thermostat.
  2. Options in writing. We explain the equipment options at different efficiency levels. No pressure, no obligation.
  3. Permit. We pull the mechanical permit.
  4. Installation. Old system out, new system in, with connections, drainage and thermostat set up.
  5. Start-up and testing. We check refrigerant charge, airflow and temperatures, then walk you through the thermostat.
  6. Final inspection scheduled with the building department.

Pair a new AC with solar

An efficient AC and rooftop solar work well together. The AC is usually the biggest electricity use in a Florida home. Ask us about solar panel installation at the same time.

AC replacement FAQs

How long does an AC replacement take?

A straightforward replacement usually takes about a day once equipment is on site. Ductwork changes or a new system location can add time.

What size AC do I need?

It depends on your home, not only its square footage. We calculate the load during the assessment so the system isn't oversized (which causes humidity problems) or undersized.

Should I replace the air handler and outdoor unit together?

Usually, yes. Matched indoor and outdoor equipment is needed for the rated efficiency and for most manufacturer warranties.

Will a new AC lower my power bill?

A newer, efficient system can mean potential savings compared with an older one, but results depend on your home, your usage and your utility rates. We don't promise a specific amount.

What warranty comes with a new system?

Equipment warranties come from the manufacturer and vary by brand and model. We'll give you the warranty details for the system you choose in writing with your estimate.
